PUBLIC HOUSES- LA SENIA

This pretty house is situated in the Palm Grove of the same name at the entrance to the village,
It takes its name from a waterwheel that supplied water for a public washing place.
The current house, with some variations, was built by the Múrtula Family, surname of a Spanish Cónsul in Argelia, who moved to Santa Pola at the beginning of the XIXth century.
The house was the centre of a collection of buildings: a waterwheel driven by animals to extract water, stables, and communal washing place. The ground floor was occupied by the caretakers of the land.
Nowadays, the building, restores and completely remodelled has became "The Pensioners Home".

We can find in thee garden there is an auditorium, the Petanque Club, a playground, and an important site dating from the old Roman city.
